Meccha Chameleon's latest update is a substantial one, bringing fresh locations to play on, a smarter way to find servers, and a long list of fixes that tighten up the overall experience.

Two New Official Maps

Players can now sneak, hide, and hunt across two brand-new official maps: Kyoto and Art Museum. Alongside these additions, the existing Greece and Egypt maps have been reworked, giving veteran players a reason to revisit familiar territory with fresh eyes.

Server Browser Replaced with Join Codes

The old server browser is gone. In its place is a streamlined 5-character alphanumeric join code system, making it easier to hop into a specific server. Join codes can be verified directly in-game, and in-progress matches are now hidden from public searches by default (though this can be toggled in options). The search screen also now displays how long a server has been running, helping players find games that are just getting started.

Gameplay and Network Improvements

A handful of quality-of-life changes round out this patch. Taunts now have a 1-second cooldown, and the forced taunt interval has been extended from 1 second to 5 seconds, cutting down on spam. Network data usage during painting has been cut by 40%, which should help players on tighter connections. The maximum FPS cap has been nudged up to 240 fps, and camera controls for hiders have been improved.

Bug Fixes

Several issues have been squashed in this update:

  • Ammo settings no longer reset between matches
  • A crash that affected some players during gameplay has been addressed
  • Stick-based paint controls no longer vary in speed based on framerate or move faster in the upward direction
  • Server player count no longer incorrectly displays as 0
  • Performance drops when opening the options menu have been reduced

A sound effect now plays when toggling voice chat on or off, and players are required to select a region tag before joining servers. The game will also now correctly end if the hunter count hits zero while hunters are still in the waiting state.
