Each map offers a distinct world layout but the same gameplay systems
Whether you pick The Valley or The Oxbow, all crafting, farming, hunting, and dynasty mechanics work identically. The main differences are terrain layout, river placement, and the feel of the landscape. Choosing your map is mostly about which environment you prefer to build your dynasty in.

Maps

The Valley
Rolling medieval countryside
The Valley
The Valley is the original map of Medieval Dynasty, featuring a wide, open landscape with rolling hills, dense forests, and scattered NPC villages. It offers plenty of flat ground ideal for laying out a growing settlement, making it a natural starting point for new players. The terrain is varied enough to keep exploration interesting while remaining approachable for those still learning the game.

The Oxbow
River-island wilderness
The Oxbow
The Oxbow is a newer, more compact map built around a large river bend that partially encircles the playable area, giving it a distinctive geographical identity. The terrain is wilder and more rugged, with fewer NPC villages and a greater emphasis on self-sufficiency and exploration. It appeals to players who want a more challenging and isolated feeling as they carve out their dynasty from a less tamed landscape.

Tips for any map

Scout the area around your starting location before placing your first buildings so you have access to water, forests, and flat building ground nearby.
Pay close attention to the season cycle on any map - prepare food and firewood well before winter arrives or your villagers and crops will suffer.
Visit NPC villages early on both maps to pick up quests, buy tools, and learn where key resources like clay, stone, and iron are located.
Keep a stockpile of logs, straw, and sticks from the start - these basic materials are needed constantly for construction on any map.
If resources near your settlement run low, rotate your gathering and hunting to different zones of the map to allow local areas to replenish.
Trade regularly with NPC vendors in nearby villages to offload surplus crafted goods and earn coins for buying items you cannot yet produce yourself.
