Euro Truck Simulator 2's 1.60 update is now live, introducing an all-new in-game radio system, overhauled vehicle interior visuals, a job details widget, and a more flexible rest mechanic.
What's new
Euro Truck Simulator 2's 1.60 update has officially rolled out following a community-assisted open beta phase. This is a fairly substantial patch that touches audio, visuals, UI, and gameplay systems all at once. Here's a breakdown of everything that changed.
The headline addition is Game Radio, a purpose-built in-game radio system with five distinct stations: Rust FM, Escape, PUMP IT!, Pop Gear, and Roadio. Each station has its own curated identity, rock and Americana, electronic, pop, lo-fi, and more, designed to keep long hauls feeling varied. Notably, the Escape station is built with content creators in mind, with SCS committing to keeping its track selection stream-safe.
A new HUD widget displays the current station, track title, and artist name while you drive. You can configure widget behaviour through the Widget Options menu (F6). The existing radio and music player systems also received general improvements alongside this launch.
SCS has overhauled how interior materials respond to light inside selected trucks. The new system uses multiple variants of dynamic cubemaps, making leather, fabric, plastic, and metal surfaces far easier to distinguish from one another, even in low-light cabin conditions. The first trucks to benefit in ETS2 are the DAF NGD and MAN TG3 TGX. Additional vehicles will receive the upgrade gradually in future updates.
Global lighting has received minor but meaningful adjustments, with exposure and contrast rebalanced and some subtle visual polish applied to bad weather conditions. The goal was a more consistent and refined look across varied driving environments.
The Volvo FH Series 6 gains several new aerodynamic accessories, including redesigned roof deflectors for the Sleeper Cab, Globetrotter, and Globetrotter XL cab variants. All Aero cabin variants can also now be fitted with black aerodynamic A-Pillar trim, mirroring the aesthetic of the latest real-world Volvo FH generation.
A new Job Details Widget is available via the Widget Options menu (F6), giving you at-a-glance access to cargo type, weight, delivery destination, colour-coded income, and remaining time, all without pausing the game. The GPS has also been updated to display estimated arrival day and time alongside remaining distance.
The fatigue system has been reworked to give players more control. You can now choose exactly how long you want to sleep and when to wake up, rather than being locked into a fixed rest duration. The system is also split into two separate tracked values: Rest State (a bed icon, which depletes gradually during driving and recovers during rest) and Mandatory Break (a "P" icon showing hours remaining before a required stop). In ETS2, the mandatory break triggers after 10 hours of driving and requires 9 consecutive hours of rest.
