Behaviour Interactive is reaching out to Dead by Daylight players on Steam to help stress-test a tentative hotfix targeting two frustrating issues: crashes that occur when tabbing out of the game, and strange green lighting artefacts appearing in matches, problems reported most frequently by players running AMD graphics cards.
What's Being Tested
The hotfix is being distributed through a separate Steam beta branch called hotfix-gpu, meaning you won't need to leave your regular matchmaking pool, crossplay with other platforms remains fully active as normal. The developers are actively monitoring the results and are asking players to report any remaining issues they encounter.
How to Opt Into the Test Build
Joining the test branch is straightforward:
- Open your Steam library and right-click Dead by Daylight
- Select Properties
- Navigate to the Game Versions & Betas tab
- Choose hotfix-gpu from the dropdown list
Once selected, Steam will download the test build automatically. If you run into any problems while on this branch, the team wants to hear from you via the usual community channels.
Why This Matters
Tab-out crashes and visual glitches can seriously disrupt the Dead by Daylight experience, and community-assisted testing is a practical way to validate fixes before they roll out to the full player base.
