Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th is officially coming to Dead by Daylight, bringing unique stealth and hook-throwing abilities to the asymmetric horror game.
What's new
After years of fan requests and developer hints, the iconic slasher Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise is making his way into Dead by Daylight. Behaviour Interactive's Head of Partnerships, Mathieu Cote, described the moment as both thrilling and surreal, noting that Jason has had a standing invitation since the game's very first day.
The timing couldn't be more fitting. Jason's arrival coincides with Dead by Daylight's tenth anniversary, which also aligns with the 45th anniversary of the Friday the 13th universe. Senior Creative Director Dave Richard acknowledged the overlap was a coincidence, but a remarkably well-timed one that makes the collaboration feel all the more special.
Jason isn't just a cosmetic addition. He comes with a distinctive playstyle that sets him apart from other killers in the roster. Players can expect stealth mechanics that allow him to become invisible, as well as the ability to hurl hooks at survivors, a nod to his brutal, methodical style from the films.
Behaviour Interactive has made little secret over the years of their desire to bring Jason into the game. Licensing and rights hurdles surrounding the Friday the 13th IP famously complicated any such deal for a long time, making this announcement a genuine milestone for the Dead by Daylight community.
