Everything you need to know about McJannek Station: layout, exclusive valuables, hazards, and lore.

McJannek Station

McJannek Station is an arctic research laboratory high up in the mountains, abandoned since April 15th, 2097 according to a calendar found inside. It is snowing outside and some windows are broken. The station features computers, test tubes, microscopes, storage rooms, break areas, and a garage. Unlike Swiftbroom and the Manor, all valuables in McJannek are reachable with at most a regular jump, no special equipment needed.

Note
No high-up valuables
McJannek Station is the most accessible map for collecting valuables, everything can be reached with a normal jump. This makes it a good map for efficient runs.

Layout and navigation

McJannek has large open corridors, a reception area, computer stations, storage rooms, break rooms with vending machines, bathrooms, and a garage. Higher levels introduce water pools, narrow vent walkways, and elevated extraction platforms. The open layout means monsters can spot you from further away, crouch more frequently here than on other maps.

Watch out
Moose TV trap
In McJannek you may find a TV showing 'Are you still watching Moose Fighting Volume II: Antler Mania'. If you select 'Continue Watching', a moose jumpscare flings you backwards. Do not interact with it unless you want to be thrown across the room.

Notable exclusive valuables

McJannek has several trap valuables that can hurt you or attract monsters, but also some of the most interesting physics interactions in the game.

Tips for McJannek Station

The Propane Tank, Flamethrower, and Barrel are all trap items. Handle them carefully, the Barrel explodes after 3 impacts and can wipe your whole team.
The Phone vibrates periodically and creates noise that attracts monsters. Pick it up quickly and get it to the cart, or leave it if monsters are active nearby.
The open corridors mean monsters have a longer line of sight. Crouch more in McJannek than other maps, especially in hallways.
Extraction points are always on the outer edges. In McJannek the perimeter includes outdoor snow areas and the garage, check those first.

Lore

The Danish flag (Dannebrog) can be found inside the station. The station emblem in the reception room says 'MCJANNEK STATION' and 'ARCTIC RESEARCH'. A calendar shows the last day the station was in use was April 15th, 2097. Rasmussen, whose picture and name appear on a Keycard found in the station, was a member of the Biotech Division here. The yellow substance found in pits at the station (and also at Swiftbroom Academy) has not been fully explained.
