The final devlog before the May 7th update is here, revealing a brand-new cosmetics system complete with loot boxes, Tax Tokens, and per-part color customization for your semibot.
What's new
The semiwork team has dropped the final devlog ahead of R.E.P.O.'s next big update, launching on May 7th, and it's all about cosmetics. Here's everything you need to know before you dive back into the chaos.
While you're out hauling valuables, keep an eye out for Cosmetic Boxes scattered throughout your runs. These boxes come in four rarities, Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Ultra Rare, so some hauls will be luckier than others. Successfully extract a Cosmetic Box and the Taxman will hand out Tax Tokens to every member of the team, one token per box.
Those Tax Tokens aren't just for show. Head to the in-game shops and you'll find brand-new mysterious machines waiting to take your tokens. Feed one in and walk away with a cosmetic reward. It's essentially a gacha-style dispenser built right into the shop loop.
The customization options for your semibot have gotten a serious upgrade. You could always paint your semibot a single color, but now you can color each individual part separately for a much more personal look. On top of that, most unlocked cosmetics also support color customization, letting you fine-tune the aesthetic even further.
The update goes live on May 7th. Get ready to spend those Tax Tokens.
