R.E.P.O. v0.4.2 brings vehicle handling improvements, staff balancing across three items, a save file backup system, and a handful of bug fixes.
What's new
Semiwork has dropped R.E.P.O. v0.4.2, a focused patch tackling vehicle feel, staff balance, quality-of-life improvements, and a range of bug fixes that have been bothering the community.
Vehicles now drift less aggressively at lower speeds, making them easier to control during slower maneuvers. Scratch sound effects have also been reworked to scale with velocity, so you won't be bombarded with noise while simply cruising around.
The Item Semibot Walkies received a handy upgrade, valuables can now be discovered while you're actively using a walkie-talkie. The Item Hauler's animation for loading valuables into the box has been slowed down for clarity. Three staffs, the Roll Staff, Zero Gravity Staff, and Void Staff, each gained one additional ammo charge, and enemies can no longer hear any of them while fully charged and the user is idle. The Zero Gravity Staff also no longer launches valuables and will no longer make them briefly indestructible after being struck.
A backup save system has been added to protect your progress if the game closes unexpectedly mid-save, a welcome safety net for longer runs. Modders and localizers will also be pleased to know that base localizations can now be overridden using TSV files placed in the StreamingAssets folder.
Several issues have been squashed in this patch. The player upgrade screen was incorrectly flashing red instead of yellow. A specific cosmetic that couldn't be unlocked has been fixed. Vehicles should no longer get stuck at the bottom of stairs or launch backward during front-wheel wheelies. Cosmetic interactions have been improved, menu buttons now respond correctly at very low frame rates, and long save names no longer vanish from the save info display.
